1. Check your login id and password by logging into your account directly at the financial institution’s website (not a phone app). 
2. In your bank's website, check for any messages that need to be actioned or accepted. Try clicking on all pages as there may be a prompt asking you to update personal details, etc.
3. Log out of your bank's website and close that tab.
4. Log into FCN MoneyCoach and navigate to the 'My Accounts' page by clicking on your name in the upper right.
5. Click the plus (+) button under 'Linked Accounts' and follow the prompts and add your account. Enter the same username and password you just used to access your bank's website. Manually enter your username and password (do not use any autofill fields from your browser). Ensure there are no spaces before or after the username and password.
6. If this is an MFA (Multi Factor Authentication) account, enter the MFA information sent as quickly as possible.
7. If you are using security questions as your MFA, you may need to repeat steps 5-6 multiple times to cycle through all of the security questions, particularly if the question was answered incorrectly once. 
8. Screenshot any error messages you receive.
9. Once you link an account, it may not show in the list for 3-5 minutes. If your accounts don’t appear within 5 minutes, please attempt the linking process again.
10. After waiting an additional 5 minutes if the accounts still don’t appear, please send a description of the issue to your Coach/Advisor so the Tech Team can provide support. Please include the name of the bank, the bank's login url, a summary of the issue, and screenshots of error messages.

5. If this is not a Multi Factor Authentication (MFA) account (e.g., your bank does not require an additional verification step), select 'Refresh.' If you receive an error, continue to the next step.  
6. If this is an MFA account (or you're unsure), click on the 3 dots on the account showing an error and select 'Edit Credentials.'
7. Enter the same username and password you just used to access your bank's website. Manually enter your username and password (do not use any autofill fields from your browser). Ensure there are no spaces before or after the username and password.
8. If this is an MFA account, enter the MFA information sent as quickly as possible.
9. If you are using security questions as your MFA, you may need to repeat steps 5-7 multiple times to cycle through all of the security questions, particularly if the question was answered incorrectly once. 
10. Screenshot any error messages you receive.
11. Errors may take some time to clear. If the error doesn't clear immediately, please wait 10-15 minutes and try again.
12. After waiting an additional 10-15 minutes if the error still doesn’t clear, please send a description of the issue to your Coach/Advisor so the Tech Team can provide support. Please include the name of the bank, the bank's login url, a summary of the issue, and screenshots of error messages.

Your institution/bank has policies in place that may require FCN MoneyCoach to refresh the link between your account and FCN MoneyCoach. These requirements are set by the institution/bank and are not under the control of FCN MoneyCoach. Please use the steps on this page to refresh your account when prompted. 

You may see different requirements and messages such as:

• Error messages (e.g., "Account not refreshed for at least 7 days. If MFA account, please Edit your Credentials to update. If not an MFA account, please Refresh.")
• Short data refresh requirements, e.g., 7 days (others are much longer, 30 days or more)
• Require you to reenter your login information for every refresh (others simply require you to click the button 'Refresh Credentials' to relink)
• Require you to refresh the data manually, which will result in a prompt to click "Refresh" on a regular basis (some refresh the data automatically)

Please be careful to press the ‘Save’ button once for each upload.

If the ‘Save’ button is pressed multiple times, then multiple sets of transactions will be uploaded, creating duplicate transactions. 

Your coach/advisor may have set up alerts for you based on their communication preferences and past experiences. Please talk to your coach/advisor about any changes you'd like to make.

1. If you wish to edit your alerts and communications options, from the main screen click on the profile image and select my account

2. Click on edit profile and edit the emails alerts

3. You can also access your alerts from the main dashboard by clicking on the bell symbol and a side panel will appear with your alerts generated.
The alerts are in app alerts. Emails are also generated and sent to your inbox as secondary communication format.

NOTE: If you disable alerts you will not receive email alerts or in app notifications.

4. To view a list of the alerts click on the cog symbol

5. A list of alerts are available and you can turn on by clicking on the circle

6. A description for each alert can be displayed by hovering the mouse cursor over the ? symbol

Please note that in some cases, the institution may not have the main bank’s name in the linked account in FCN MoneyCoach. For example, Southwest Airlines credit cards are Chase accounts, but they do not have Chase in their name. If you’re not sure about an account, please contact your coach/advisor to help determine who they are serviced by.

FastLink and Open Banking Technology Transition by US Institutions

MoneyCoach uses FastLink technology which allows linking using the updated Open Banking protocols. Open Banking allows for more stable and secure connections that solve many of the frustrations with the old way of linking accounts (such as having to reconnect broken links). FastLink is available for all institutions, whether they have adopted Open Banking yet or not.

As each bank/institution adopts Open Banking, you will need to update their connections to switch over to the new protocols.

If you are notified that your bank is transitioning to Open Banking, that is great news! That means your bank has upgraded their linking system to the new Open Banking technology. To re-connect your accounts with this bank, your coach will need to close your existing connections and you will need to re-link these accounts. 

The following checklist should make the process easier, but you can troubleshoot any issues with your coach/advisor.

4. Log into FCN MoneyCoach and navigate to the My Accounts page by clicking on your name in the upper right

As additional institutions adopt the Open Banking protocols, you’ll need to repeat this process of closing and relinking the impacted accounts. The good news is FastLink and Open Banking are far more efficient, secure, and stable linking systems so issues will be far rarer as more institutions adopt the new technology.
